News Trading

Standard Accounts ▼

Traders may not open or close positions within two minutes before or after a Red Folder news release. This window includes trades that hit the profit target and any profitable trade, including positions opened before the release that reach take profit during the restricted period. If any trade generates profit during this window, the challenge cannot be passed.

An auto-close feature automatically closes positions when the profit target is reached. If positions are closed during a news event, whether or not a take-profit target was set, it will be treated as a breach of the two-minute trading restriction before and after the event. Traders who pass based on trades executed during these restricted times will not pass the challenge.

Funded Accounts
Live simulated accounts follow the same news-trading procedure. Profits generated from news trading during either the challenge or funded stage within the restricted window will not be credited. This news-trading rule does not apply to instant funding.

Which events are classified as Red Folder news?
Any Red Folder event listed on Forex Factory is included in the restricted news window.

News Trading on Instant Account ▼

Allowed without restrictions.

News Trading on OMO Two-Step ▼

News trading is fully allowed during Phase 1 and Phase 2 without restrictions. In the funded stage, news trading remains allowed, but profits generated during a news event are capped at 0.50% of the account balance. For example, on a $100,000 funded account, you may keep up to $500 in profit from any news event; any amount above that will not be credited to your balance. This rule prevents outsized gains from extreme volatility while still allowing participation in news-driven market moves.

Payout Policy

One-Step Standard ▼

• Payouts every 10 days.
• 80% profit split to the trader.
• Minimum payout: $20.
• The account fee is refunded with the third payout.

Two-Step Standard Account▼

• Payouts every 10 days.
• 80% profit split to the trader.
• Minimum payout: $20.
• The account fee is refunded with the third payout.
• You must complete 3 profitable days before requesting a payout.

Two-Step OMO Account ▼

• Payouts every 10 days.
• 80% profit split to the trader.
• Minimum payout: $20.
• The account fee is refunded with the third payout.
• You must complete 4 profitable days before requesting a payout.
• Important Note: although the Maximum Drawdown is static, you must leave part of the profits in the account when requesting a payout because the drawdown moves to the initial balance after the payout.

3-Step Account ▼

• Payouts every 10 days.
• 80% profit split to the trader.
• Minimum payout: $20.
• The account fee is refunded with the third payout.

Instant Account ▼

• Payouts every 10 days.
• 80% profit split to the trader.
• Minimum payout: 3% of the account size.
• The account fee is refunded with the third payout.

Payout Limits ▼

The maximum payout is $10,000 per 30-day trading cycle, per trader. If your profit exceeds $10,000, the payout remains capped at $10,000. When trading multiple accounts, all accounts are treated as one for this limit. The account balance is reset to the initial balance after the profit distribution is received.
The $10,000 limit is calculated from the date the account is closed and profits are realized. Any profit above this limit is forfeited. The cycle is calculated from the date your first payout becomes available.

Profits Above $5000
If total profit exceeds $5000, your best trading day (measured between two separate trades, provided no more than 24 hours pass between closing the first trade and opening the next) or your best single trade (which may consist of multiple positions entered at the same time) must not account for more than 50% of the profit generated during the funded-stage payout cycle. If the 50% threshold is exceeded, the eligible profit will be reduced to 50%.
Once your profits exceed $5000, you must attend a risk assessment interview with one of Maven's analysts. You may cancel the appointment once if circumstances change, but you must attend the rescheduled interview. If you fail to attend, your profits will not be paid. You have two weeks from receiving the invitation to book and attend the interview. Traders with profits below $5000 may also be selected for an interview at random or at Maven's discretion. The account is reset to its starting balance after the profit share is paid.

Example
Assume you have a $100,000 account and earn $5,000 on the first day and $3,000 on the second day, bringing the balance to $108,000. The total amount eligible for payout before the profit split would be $6,000. You may also continue trading until no single trading day accounts for more than 50% of total profits. For example, if you earn $10,000 in one trade and choose to request a payout, the amount eligible before the profit split would be $5,000.

Limited Risk:
This condition applies only to a small group of traders and is designed for traders who do not follow proper risk management, helping them become more disciplined and responsible. Unless you receive a notification, you may trade normally without an additional risk limit. If your risk exceeds the amount stated in the email sent to you, the account will be closed.

Account Rules

Position Holding ▼

Overnight and weekend holding is allowed on all accounts.

Copy Trading ▼

Manual trade copying is allowed between your own Maven trading accounts, accounts at other prop firms, and brokerage accounts.
Trade-copying software is not allowed on the available platforms, and copying other traders' positions is strictly prohibited.

Expert Advisors / Automated Trading ▼

Prohibited.

Firm Rules ▼

IP Address
Your IP address during the evaluation and funded account stages must remain within the same geographic region.
If it changes, proof must be provided, such as travel tickets or live proof of location.
Martingale
Opening 5 simultaneous losing positions on the same pair is the maximum allowed.
Prohibited Gambling Rules
This is considered gambling and is subject to penalties:
Excessive Scalping: More than 50% of your trades are held for less than one minute.
Martingale: Opening 5 simultaneous losing positions on the same pair.
All-In Rule: Placing one trade without a Stop Loss or risking more than the permitted limit in order to pass the evaluation.
Gamifying Rule: Running two accounts against each other, with one buying and the other selling.

Note:
A trade is counted as one trade even if it consists of several positions on the same pair opened at the same time with the same lot size.

Risk Interview
After total payouts exceed $5,000, a risk interview is required.
The interview may be postponed only once.
Missing the second scheduled interview results in payout cancellation.
Random interviews may be requested even when profits are below $5,000.

Risk-Management Rules / Risk Limit
This applies only to traders who demonstrate excessive risk.
If you do not receive an email, you may trade normally.
If you exceed the limits stated in your email, the account will be closed.

Scaling ▼

To qualify for scaling, the trader must achieve 10% profit over 4 months, equivalent to 2.5% per month, and complete at least one payout each month. The account will then receive a 25% increase.
This process may be repeated up to one million dollars. The maximum payout scales proportionally with the scaling plan. The Maximum Drawdown does not scale proportionally.

Maximum Loss Per Trade Rule on the Instant Account ▼

The loss on open positions must not reach 1% of the account size. If it does, the account will be closed immediately.
Example
On a 100K account, the loss on open positions must not reach $1000.

Maximum Loss Per Trade Rule on the OMO Account ▼

The M2 Account Saver monitors your open positions and is automatically triggered when the account's equity drawdown reaches 2%. If this occurs, all open positions are immediately closed and your profit split is permanently reduced to 50% on the remaining account balance.

If a second breach occurs, all open positions will be closed again and the account will be permanently disabled. The account cannot be restored after a second breach. Careful position sizing from the outset is the best way to avoid this outcome.

Inactivity Rule ▼

If the account remains without any trade for 60 days, it will be permanently closed. If the trader passes the evaluation and reaches the funded account but does not complete the required document verification within 30 days, the account will also be permanently closed.

KYC Verification ▼

National ID, passport, or driving licence
Selfie Photo

Trade Duration ▼

On all accounts except OMO:
A trade must remain open for more than one minute before it is closed. A violation results in account closure.
On the OMO Two-Step account:
A trade must remain open for more than two and a half minutes on the funded account only. Profit from non-compliant trades will not be counted.

Prohibited Strategies ▼

Cheating: Using trading methods that are ineffective in the simulated trading environment, including High-Frequency Trading, unethical order flow, buy/sell arbitrage, reverse arbitrage, rapid scalping, and server-side execution. Trades may not be copied from another person. If detected, legal action will be taken against both users.
Reverse/Group Hedging: Using your account to bet in one direction on a single trade against another account, in an attempt to reverse the position of the other account and create a 100% chance of winning.
Hedging: You may not use an evaluation or funded account exclusively for hedging. Many malicious automated hedging systems aim to exploit the simulated trading environment, preventing accurate replication of your trades on a live server. If we determine that your account is being used exclusively for hedging, we will request information about the automated hedging system used, if applicable.
Automated Trading / EAs: EAs are not allowed under any circumstances on any of our platforms.
Gamifying the Evaluation: Attempting to avoid genuine trading and instead betting on random chances of success while focusing only on the evaluation's Maximum Drawdown or Take Profit. This is not trading; it is turning the evaluation into a game.
Note: A “trade” is defined as a position held by the trader on a specific currency pair. It may consist of one entry or several entries with similar timing and lot size. It may also be defined as multiple entries on the same currency pair at the same time. Positions with extremely small lot sizes are not counted. If your account is flagged, you must retake the evaluation.

Your account will be closed if you engage in any of these activities.

Trading Rules ▼

Excessive Scalping: Holding 50% or more of your trades for less than one minute.
All-In Betting: Betting in one direction and continuing until either success or failure. This means placing one trade without risk management, such as having no Stop Loss or risking more than the permitted drawdown limit—for example, 2% on Three-Step, 3% on One-Step, or 4% on Two-Step—so that the result is either passing or failing the evaluation. This condition also applies to the funded stage.
Gamifying the Evaluation: Trading two accounts against each other by buying on one and selling on the other, thereby guaranteeing that one account passes the evaluation.
Examples:
Excessive Scalping:
A trader executes trades rapidly, placing 50 trades, 26 of which last less than 60 seconds. This means more than 50% of the trades were executed in under 60 seconds, which constitutes excessive rapid scalping.
All-In:
A trader opens a one-lot position on EUR/USD without a Stop Loss and keeps it open until the evaluation is passed on the first attempt. The trade has only two possible outcomes: pass or fail. This does not demonstrate trading skill, and the trader will not be selected for the funded stage. In another example, a trader enters EUR/USD on a Two-Step evaluation and sets a Stop Loss at 6% of the account balance. If the Stop Loss is hit, the evaluation is failed and the trader does not advance to funding. Stacking positions on the same pair and in the same direction at close time intervals without a Stop Loss, or stacking positions beyond the permitted drawdown limit, violates the trading rules. This is defined as risking more than the drawdown limit allowed for the specific evaluation type.
Gamifying the Evaluation:
This occurs when two opposite accounts are traded against each other, with one buying and the other selling, guaranteeing that one passes the evaluation. Even if this is done between a Maven account and an account at another firm, it can be detected and the evaluation will not be passed.
This is an attempt to avoid trading and instead play the odds of random success. It is not trading, but rather risking a large portion of the account on individual bets with a risk-to-reward ratio of 1:1.25 or lower. In brief, it gamifies the evaluation instead of demonstrating trading skill.
Note: A “trade” is defined as a position held by the trader on a specific currency pair. It may consist of one entry or several entries with similar timing and lot sizes. It may also be defined as multiple entries on the same currency pair at the same time. Positions with extremely small lot sizes are not counted. If gambling behavior is confirmed, the trader will not qualify for the funded stage and will not receive another attempt.
